DESF GRANT PROGRAM

Each year, DESF awards grants to programs in our community. The primary goal of the DESF grant program is to provide financial assistance to youth programs (under age 21) in the St. Paul area to support education, arts and culture. 

The following policy establishes the guidelines and procedures for the Destination Education Assistance Grant.

 What is the Grant Award Amount? 
Grants can range from $100 - $10,000  

Who is Eligible? 
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

• Program/Scholarship recipient is under the age of 21 at the time of disbursement.
• Resident or enrolled in a St. Paul–area school within our boundary area.
• Demonstrate financial need and educational purpose
• For minors, have parent or guardian consent.

What Types of Awards are Available? 
A. Scholarships
Scholarships support post-secondary education and certification programs. Awards may be granted up to $5,000 per student per year and may be used for tuition, fees, books, or required educational expenses.

B. Youth Program Grants
1. Community Service: Grants that serve the general good of the community. These grants include capital improvements, service agencies, 501 (c)(3) organizations and related community programs.
2. Educational: Grants that benefit students in our boundary area through new and established educational programs including STEM, technology, and arts. Other educational opportunities that with our financial assistance will enhance student’s future.
3. Athletic: Grants for new program start-up costs.  Capital improvements and equipment for existing programs.
4. Cultural: Community programs for youth in Art, Music, Theater, and related activities.

How Does DESF Select its  Recipients? 
Winners are selected by the Destination Education Board of Directors.

​How to Submit a Grant Application to DESF 
Grant applications shall be accepted at any time.  Applications must be received 30 days prior to the monthly board meeting held the 4th Tuesday of each month, or they will be heard the next month.  Applicants must submit a completed application form and required supporting documentation, which may include a statement of need, cost documentation, and multiple bids. Award Administration, Payment and Accountability
DESF may require proof of enrollment, participation, and receipts. Grant payments shall be contingent upon verification of enrollment and continued eligibility. Recipients may be required to submit proof of use of funds and a brief impact or progress report. Failure to comply with reporting requirements may affect future eligibility.
